The Perfect Thanksgiving

Growing up my mother always hosted Thanksgiving. Our house was filled to the brim with family. My mother would spend hours in the kitchen making sure every dish was perfect and that there was plenty of food to go around. We would extend the dining table and get out the good dishes. We'd all put on our Sunday best and my mother would hope I didn't spill my cranberry sauce.

Now I live on the other side of the country and my Thanksgivings are very different from when I was growing up. Because my place is too small to host, the family has dinner at my mother-in-law's house. It is a much more casual affair with a modest menu and a very relaxed dress code. I remember showing up in a dress when I was dating my husband to find his entire family in sweatpants.

While I greatly appreciate the work that my mother-in-law puts into the day, I can't wait until I can host my own Thanksgiving. I dream of a beautiful table and a menu that is just a bit more refined.

With no further ado, I share with you the elements of my perfect Thanksgiving.

My menu:

Cheese Plate
Homemade Rolls
Pecan Pie

My perfect table:

Copper Shot Glasses as votive holders
Brass Taper Holders
Copper Serving Tray
Natural Linen Tablecloth
Bay Leaf Garland
Platinum Rimmed Glasses

My perfect outfit:

I am really loving navy for the holidays. This Boden dress would be great for Thanksgiving but would also be a staple wardrobe piece.  When on your feet comfy flats are must. These flats from Kate Spade are super cute. If Kate Spade isn't in you budget there are plenty of affordable options (here and here). Of course, no look is complete without some bling.

Now that I have shared my perfect Thanksgiving, I'd love to hear about yours. Do you have a more casual affair or do you have something a bit more upscale?
