Skin Care For Your Skin Type: Oily

In case you missed my first post in the skin care for your skin type series, I know how hard it can be to find recommendations for my skin type. I want to make sure you don't have the same problem so I am putting together guides for a variety of skin types. If you don't have oily, skin you can check out my recommendations for normal skin and dry skin

Oily Skin

AM

Cleanser: It is important to make sure your face is getting clean without stripping your face of the oils it needs. OLEHENRIKSEN The Clean Truth Foaming Cleanser or philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash. For a drugstore option look for Burt's Bees Deep Cleansing Cream.

Eye cream: With oily skin you will want to make sure it absorbs and not slide right off. My all time favorite is Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream. Of course, Clinique All About Eyes is another great option. L'oreal Age Perfect Eye Renewal is a great choice for a drugstore option.

Serum/Essence: Serums are a great way to help address specific skin issues. If you want to address oiliness, try Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum. Want to improve your skin tone and reduce dark spots? Try Caudalie Vinoperfect Concentrated Brightening Essence.*  e.l.f Soothing Serum can be picked up for a steal at Target

*An essence is lighter than a serum and is great for oily skin because it won't feel greasy. They can also be layered with other treatment options.

Moisturizer: Everyone will tell you ,that you need to moisturize even if you have oily skin. I am going to tell you that you need to pay attention to your skin and decide when you need to apply one or not. Should you decided to use a moisturizer, I would recommend Belief The True Cream Aqua Bomb or OLEHENRIKSEN Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator. Pick up L'oreal Hydra Genius Liquid at Ulta if you are looking to spend under $20.

As Needed: When looking for additional treatments, it is important to make sure they will not make your skin oilier or cause a breakout. For large, clogged pores try the cult classic Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips. These can be used on the nose, chin, or forehead as needed. For clogged pores and oiliness you can try a mask. While this post isn't sponsored, I was sent the Freeman Feeling Beautiful Charcoal & Black Sugar Mask, which is a perfect budget friendly mud mask available at Ulta. From Caudalie, I recommend the Instant Detox Mask.

PM

Cleanser: To remove stubborn eye makeup look to a wipe like Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads. After removing makeup, you can use the same cleanser in the evening as you do in the morning.

Eye cream: Take advantage of night time and use a really great eye cream designed for overnight use to help fight off fine lines and wrinkles. belif First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask or Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye Concentrate are both great option. If you are looking to save, use the same eye cream you use during the day.

Serum: You can opt to use the same serum at night as you do during the day or you can try and tackle a different skin concern. At night would be the best time to try anti-aging products, retinoids, and AHAs as you don't have to worry about sun exposure while you sleep*.  First Aid Beauty Skin Lab Retinol Serum or Sunday Riley Good Genes are good options.

You can use both retinoids and AHAs in your skincare routine, but not at the same time. So if you plan to use both, use one in the morning and the other in the evening.

Moisturizer:  You can use the same moisturizer in the evening or you can use a special night cream. For a lightweight night cream I would recommend Estee Edit Pink Peony Overnight Water Pack or the Sephora Collection Green Tea Sleeping Mask.

This post completes my series on Skin Care For Your Skin Type. A lot of time and love went into this series. I wanted to make sure to only recommend the absolute best products. Should you need more direction on finding a skin care recommendation, please feel free to leave a comment.
