In case you missed it, I am doing a better you one month at a time challenge this year. Each month, I pick a new thing to work on. Catch is, I still have to keep up the good behavior from the month before. So while February was all about getting more sleep, I still have to drink more water (January’s challenge) too.
February A Better You Check In
Because I had so much success with my January challenge, I thought I wouldn’t have a problem getting more sleep. Yeah, no. This month was hard for me.
I made a plan to go to bed at 12:30am every weeknight and wake up at 7am. My ultimate goals would be to be in bed by 11:30 but that is too big of a difference to tackle at once. I know I do better with smaller goals. Big ones can be overwhelming.
I tried to get better sleep, I was super efficient, and I started doing less. For the first week, I was going to bed at the time I wanted, but I wasn’t falling asleep, until closer to 1:30am. Two weeks into February I was averaging 1.5 more hours of sleep (a fairly good improvement}, thanks to my sleep hacks. Then last week, I found that I couldn’t go to bed on time not matter what I tried. I am going to chalk that up to some extreme stress that I am having in my life right now. At this point I am aware of the stress and trying to deal. But the night before last, I didn’t go to bed until 3am. Yikes. Tonight my goal is to be in bed by 12:30. Fingers crossed!
Remembering to drink water wasn’t hard, so that was one complete success for the month. Yay!
March A Better You Challenge
For the month of March, I have another large topic to tackle.
One thing I know I have to work on is eating with intention. I’m not sure that is the best way to describe it. I want to be very aware of what I am eating, when I am eating, how I feel when I eating. I want to take my time when eating and not be rushed. I think, no, I know, that I am eating way more than I realize. If I can spend the month being very intentional with my eating, I will be able to identify areas that could use improvement.
