Happy Weekend! Today is day 6 of the 31 Days To A Happier You Challenge. So far we have learned a lot about what makes us happy. We’ve brainstormed, made lists, and we’ve visualized our happiness. Since yesterday’s task of creating your own happiness board was a big one (it’s okay if you are still working on your happiness board) is a much smaller task. Today we are going to focus on increasing our happiness by cleaning up our social media aka doing a following cleanse.
The effect of social media on happiness and self-worth has been a huge issue lately. As a blogger, I am “friends” with a lot of other bloggers. My IG following feed is full of perfectly curated images, expensive handbags, and beautiful houses. Some of these bloggers and influencers make life look perfect. I am sure some of them have a wonderful life but I also know what goes on behind the scenes. I know that there is a normal person trying to work their butt off to make beautiful pictures for their Instagram grid.
That all being said, I myself have felt the unhappiness creep in after an IG scroll session. So guess what, I went in and unfollowed the accounts that were making me feel less than 100%. IG accounts that caused increased jealousy, accounts filled with a ton of negativity, or influencers that love drama have been cut from my feed. I just don’t have time for that in my life.
Plus there are so many people to follow that will fill your feed with beauty and positivity. In fact, I am going to share some of my favorite people to follow that I think you should check out. PS. This isn’t some prearranged thing. They have no idea I’m doing this.
@lenaskitchenblog: I am new to following Lena. She is a Portland area blogger like I am so I don’t know how I didn’t come across her account sooner. I love her IG Stories. They are super fun to watch and she makes cooking look easy.
@topknotsandpearls: I am so not a fashion blogger. And to be honest, I don’t follow too many fashion accounts. However, I love Nicholle’s account. She keeps things super real but she also posts super cute clothes too.
@shynnz: I follow a ton of different mom bloggers and a lot of them have a lot of great relatable content. But I really love her account because she shares a lot of the real struggles of parenthood along with the cute and fun moments too.
To do: Go through your social media accounts and to a following cleanse. Unfollow or mute those that leave you feeling unhappy. Bonus: Go through and follow some new accounts that make you happy when you see their images.
