I was in 5th grade when Clueless came out in the movie theater. Sadly, my mother wouldn’t let me see it. In fact, I didn’t get to see it until three years after it came out!
My mother was pretty strict about what I was allowed to wear. The list of no’s was pretty long. No crop tops, no tube tops, no skinny strapped tank tops, no short shorts, no short skirts, you get the idea.
I did however have plaid skirts with knee socks and penny loafers. And I had a plaid paint suit with a sweater vest. I was able to wear overalls too. And to my eight grade dance, I wore butterfly clips in my hair!
Needless to say, I am very excited about the 90s making a comeback!
A lot of this post references an article on Elle, Fall 2013 Fashion Editor’s Picks. Read it, here.
